A SEASON-BASED ROUTINE FOR EVERY COUNTRY
Keep the website current without turning it into another full-time volunteer role.
Outdoor and indoor clubs do not share one worldwide calendar. Some prepare for an April opening, some build towards pennant season later in the year, and indoor clubs may operate throughout the year. This schedule therefore works backwards from your own season, opening day or main recruitment period.
Give every changing page an owner
Agree who supplies fixtures, results, news, membership information, committee contacts and sponsor changes. One website volunteer can publish the updates, but the information should not depend on that person chasing every section of the club.
Use expiry dates for temporary information
When a closure, competition entry or open day is published, note when it should be removed. Expired announcements are one of the quickest ways to make a club website feel unreliable.
Protect the essentials before adding more features
A current phone number, email address, location, membership route and fixture list matter more than a large archive of neglected pages. Complete the short weekly and monthly checks first, then improve galleries, history and other longer-term content.
Make the calendar part of committee business
Put the pre-season review, post-AGM access check and annual domain review into the club calendar. Small scheduled checks prevent the rushed recovery work that follows an expired domain, an inaccessible account or a season of outdated information.
